HUGE Porblem with Sound

My sound on my speakers only work when i log in my computer, the welcome sound. It has been like this for one week and ever since i connected my computer to my tv for a half an hour. Now its hooked up normally and no sound EVER plays except the XP log in sound. Can anyone please help me, this is a pretty expensive and new computer.
