Issues downloading files using SpySubtract

I have Nortan 2005 Internet Security on my computer as well as Spysubtract. I really like all these programs do to protect my computer, but I want to be able to download music from Ares. Ares will connect to the internet but the individual files are unable to download. How do I set up Nortan and/or SpySubtract to allow these files (only) to download. Please help! I am not very educated with the inter workings of a computer system. Thanks alot.
