First, to whomever checks this log - - thank you for giving of what is obviously your very valuable time.
Second, I have performed all the requisite steps to reach this point (including download of the LATEST hijack this). Also, I have read in several places on this site that it is possible to have too many anti-virus, anti-worm, etc. I think I may have that problem - and I shut off the "live" running of the Microsoft Beta and just use that for weekly scans. I also use TrendMicro and bitdefender for weekly scans. I don't use Panda because avast! doesn't like Panda. Do you have suggestions for what I should keep and what I should get rid of? Or, how many i should keep.

I had a problem yesterday and I'm not sure exactly what the problem was or what exactly fixed it. But, my internet connection was VERY slow; then I had problems connecting to my home page (Comcast cable) then I lost my phones (Packet8 VoIP). I tried recycling everything, rebooting, system restore and finally re-installing XP off the re-install ( the 1 that says; this is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers) CD. Then I checked all my connections and recycled, rebooted, re-everythinged again. That seemed to work. My speed is back up to normal, my phones work, etc. BUT, after everything came back to the way it should be I did NOT have any System Restore points. I have checked "System" in the Control Panel and "Turn Off" Sytem Restore was checked. I've unchecked that and I have set it to 10% - 7359MB so I'm not lacking for space. It can and does set a restore point that it might keep for several hours but it didn't keep it overnight. This morning I set a restore point, downloaded some Microsoft updates, restarted and the restore point disappeared.
I have run all the anti-virus, anti-spy, anti-whatevers that I have (AdAware, AVG Free, ewido, Microsoft AntiSpy, SpyBot and SpyDefense and also ran BitDefender and TrendMicro online scans) and didn't have anything unusual. Still, System Restore doesn't work properly. And I WANT IT TO. It is 1 of the ideas that Microsoft deserves a nod for. It has saved me enumerable times.
