What software do you have to burn CD's? You need to burn the file as an ISO so it boots up when you start the computer...

I haven't used mac, but there should be an option when u burn the cd that says something like "burn as ISO image". Should say something like that.

I got my disc burn using disc utility...now what should I do to prep my pc...is it safer to use a boot floppy than to set the bios to check for boot cd and can i reverse the bios to not boot from cd later

No, not any safer at all. Just change your bios to boot from cd. Knoppix will boot up. Mess around with as long as you want. When you are done, restart your computer and change the bios back and then it will boot to your hard drive.

You should be able to connect to the internet with the live CD. You might have to enable the ethernet though. I had to do that once with pclinux but that was the only one.

You can change your bios back to harddrive first if you want. For your computer to be able to boot to a CD, the CD has to contain bootable files.

No, ur PC only boots of CDs with a special file on them called an INI (im pretty sure).

I have my BIOS set to CD first and I have never had issues with it booting to a non-bootable cd

it just runs slow because its running off the CD and not the hard drive. If u install it, it will probably run much faster.
