I constantly get Windows Image Acquisition errors at startup that cause svchost.ese errors and a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered an error and needs to close" error.

Evidently due to WIA timing out and not starting. I have it set to Auto and take no action.
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k imgsvc
That's the file

Event ID 7000
The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Also get an Event ID 10005
DCOM got error "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. " attempting to start the service StiSvc with arguments "" in order to run the server:

This could be a WinXP SP2 problem with HP drivers....but I update them.

Seems to occur with or without firewalls and anti-virus turned on.

NB: most of that Symantec is new that I just installed.

Any ideas?
