I am a high school football coach in Carrollton, TX.
I have been interested in the new technology that is
being implemented into my sport for quite some time.
In the modern coaching profession, computers are an
essential device for staying efficient and productive.
There are computer programs for just about every part
of football...except for one, which is where my idea
comes in.

The team I coach, as well as about every other team we
face, as well as about every college and NFL team, use
wristbands on our players that contain a plastic
sheath which can store print-outs of plays, play
calls, blocking assignments, or about anything you
want. The player simply has to look at the wristband
and he immediately knows what to do.

As of now, there are no programs out there that will
help a coach make these wristbands. We have to use
Word or Excel and measure out the dimensions (or
guess) and cut it out with a pair of scissors.
Literally, hours are spent at formatting these
programs to get the right style, font, size, and
dimensions to where it actually will fit into the
plastic sheath.

I think there is a huge market for a program/website
that would enable the user to type in what they want
on the wristband and be able to hit "print" and the
paper would be printed in exactly the right size for
the wristband with no time spent worrying about the
dimensions or any other headaches.

I have spoken to another programmer about this idea
and he gave me some good ideas for implementing this
into a working product, but he was unable to make the
time committment to making it work. I am interested
in finding someone that would be willing to pursue
this as a financial partner. Together as a team, we
would be working towards developing a working product,
and then splitting the profits. I do not have the
funding to actually "hire" someone to do this. We
would be working for future profits.

If you are interested, I have a lot more to show you
and many more ideas for making this work. Please
e-mail me. Thanks.

Hello,

As many others here, I am a huge fan of open source (OS) software and this project seems to be a perfect candidate. Are you pursuing this project strictly for profits or more towards giving to the football community at large? Another distribution idea would be a form of limited license for the program allowing free use for non-commercial usage (amateur athletics at the high school level and below) and a paid commercial license for other use.

Cheers,
Tom
