Is it memorex or is it me?

I just got a laptop. I bought 2 30packs of 8x dvd+r by memorex. The movie will burn to the dvd, but then on playback the dvd freezes! I borrowed a blank staples brand dvd that was 4x and it worked perfect. So it's not my laptop. I'm new to burning dvds and i got a program from my uncle and it was the first time i used it. the program worked perfect, but playback freezes. I can't return the dvds, so basically i'm stuck with 58 blank memorex dvds that i paid $35 for!!! Can anyone tell me if they have had problems with memorex, or let me know of any advice you have for me. Thanks!
