Hi. Back in the day when I have a Windows 98 computer I bought a Screen Saver CD called 'The Original Computer Bug', I was just wondering if I could make it work on XP? I installed the few screen savers I liked, and they are there and work if I click on them (in the windows folder) but they will now show up on my screensavers list so I cannot at this time make it a screensaver. Can you possibly help?

Hi the_djs_girl,
Screensavers in Win98 were installed to the C:\WINDOWS folder. But now in WinXP they are installed to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.
So you will need to copy the screensaver files i.e. xxxxx.scr (where xxxxx is name of your Screensaver) in the C:\WINDOWS folder; to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder

Hi again... I tried moving the file but when I did it said it was damaged and had to be re-installed... but it wont let me choose where to install it, so it keeps going to the windows folder and keeps claiming to be damaged when I move it... I guess I cant use these screensavers can I? :tazz:

Here is my error message I get when trying to play it though (It does play, but says this first):

WorldCupFever: ISCUBA.exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system\wing.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

Looks like they've tied themselves to expecting files to be in a certain folder and because things have moved a bit under XP, they now won't work properly.

All you can do is either find newer XP compatible versions or use an entirely different screensaver altogether.
