-when I reboot, trojan remover says, "the reg/shell/open/command key in windows registry appears to have modified. Current entry looks like %1" and I use trojan remover to reset.
-when I run spybot-search and destroy 4.1, it shows 2 files, "fake msn & beta windows redirected hosts",

-when I use clean CleanMyPc registry cleaner, I get 1 windows startup problem and delete it
-when I use cwshredder, all is ok
-when I run a-squared, all is ok
-when I run, ad-ware se, today I deleted,

I can only run hijack this in safemode and when I reboot, I go thru the above processes again and again.

In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time to scan your machine.
After it disappears, reboot back into normal mode, and post a fresh HijackThis Log.

Please download  MsnVirRem.zip   13.37KB   109 downloads (Either zip or self extracting .exe), and save it to your desktop. Once in place, right click the zip file (or double click the exe), and extract the files to your desktop. It will create another folder called MsnVirRem DO NOT RUN ANYTHING IN IT YET

hi, I sent a reply a couple of hours ago but I can't seem to find it so I'll the msg again.
When I rebooted, a screen popped up saying this time,
"the reg/shell/open/command key in windows registry appears to have modified. Current entry looks like regedit %1" and I use trojan remover to reset. Spybot-search and destroy was clean, however when I clicked on my search engine which was set up for google, I ended up at, google.ca/firefox

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

• Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
• How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

To protect yourself further:

• IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
• Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.
