Hi cyneea,

OK, give me an update after you have done the instructions in my last post, I'm hoping that should fix it. In the meantime I'll try and think about what's going on.

Hi cyneea,

I'm going to ask one of the techies what they think, so there might be a bit of a delay. Sorry about that, I'll try and have a response as fast as possible.

Hi cyneea,

Not a problem :) Sometimes computers can be moody, they have good days and bad days. Is booting into normal mode still fine?

Hi cyneea,

Please download and run the file at this link. Once you have done this, reboot your computer and try getting into safe mode.

Is the error you experience still the same? (0x0000007B)

Hi mpascal,
So still my computer is sporaticly shuting off before even going to the windows screen. This time it only took 4 times before I was able to get to my desktop with out being shut down. I was able to upload and run that file and restart without any problems. I tried restarting in safe mode and the code is still the same;

0X0000007B (0XF789E528, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Is my computer turning off because of this code?

Hi cyneea,

Well, I'm hoping that the file you just ran will help clear up some of the booting issues. The reason your computer is shutting off is because when you try to boot into safe mode, Windows is is causing an error and shutting off the machine.

Hi cyneea,

From the logs I saw, your computer appeared to be malware free. Right now, I think it's just a matter of repairing Windows so that it boots correctly once again. Is it just safe mode you're having problems with now?

Hi cyneea,

Please go Start -> Run -> Type cmd and press enter.

At the command prompt, type the following exactly as you see it, and press enter: chkdsk C:/r

The tool will scan your system. Try booting into safe mode after.

Hi mpascal,
So I'm still having booting windows issues! My computer is able to load to the desktop and still shuts off. I was able to load with using last known conf. that worked after the 3rd shot.
I typed chkdsk C:/r and this is what it gave me

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
© Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\User>chkdsk C:/r
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) y

This volume will be checked the next time the system restarts.

C:\Documents and Settings\User>

I'm going to restart now and let it do the checks

Hi cyneea,

I think the easiest way to resolve this issue will be to just start a new topic in the Windows XP Forum, where one of the tech staff will be able to assist you. They are very knowledgeable about fixing issues such as these. Please give them a link to this topic so they can see what we've tried so far.
