Hi

I received a BIOS ROM checksum error last night. Needless to say, I can no longer start my PC. I haven't tried flashing the BIOS yet but in the event that doesn't work or I can't do it, what would be a good, inexpensive replacement for a ECS K7V series motherboard? My processor is 1.33 MHz AMD and the chipset is ATi Raedon series. I'm sorry if that information is not specific enough but I'm not at home and I don't have it memorized.

My board is at least 5 years old so upgrading is kind of a given. I'd also take reommendations on any websites that offer good service and low prices on new motherboards. Thanks.

Hi PuffGussy! Welcome to G2G!

Checksum errors usually refer to the CMOS battery dying. You will notice it on the motherboard. It is shiny stainless steel about the size of a nickel. Take it out and bring it to a local computer repair shop and get a new one and that should solve your problems. They are very inexpensive.
