;) OK..I am not a computer expert, I just get by. I don't even know where to start this message. Bare with me! Somehow from somewhere the SPYSHERRIF installed itself on my computer. I seen and read what other users had done to correct their problems which was identical to what I was going thru. I loaded programs as you requested, followed instructions, etc. (cleanup!, CWShredder, DelDomains, SmitFraud). Everything worked great, got rid of all those little pests, I thought...Well now I can boot in safe mode - NO PROBLEM. Boot in normal mode and I get an error that says "EXPLORER - Program has erformed an illegal operation and will be shut down." No when you say "CLOSE" it comes up a few more times. Problem is, my computer freezes at this point and I can not get into anything! What happened...? Can anyone tell me. I have tried to reboot my computer with the reboot cd and reinstall windows over windows but this didn't seem to help. I have an old machine and I run Windows98. Appreciate any help on what to try next. Here is a copy of my HiJackThis Log.

Welcome to Geeks to Go, my name is phybyr0ptyk and I will be helping you today.

I am not allowed to tell you what needs to be cleaned from your system as I am still in training, however if you would Please Click here!, and follow the recommendations in the guide.
Please go thru this guide step by step as it will clean alot of the stuff on your machine.

If you're still having trouble,(you will be) We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and post your log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Most of what Hijack This lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

After posting in the Hi Jack This forum be patient as an expert will be along shortly.

;) Thanks for your suggestions. We ended up having to wipingout Windows 98 and reload. This seemed to take care of the problem. Only issue now is everything is running sluggish. This is an old machine, maybe time to invest in an updated one. Another question tho...Can I run the CleanUp in regular (normal) mode or do I need to be in Safe mode? I thought maybe running that may make things go a little faster. Any suggestion on that? Thanks again. :tazz:

Yes you can run Clean Up in normal operating mode. However, your problem, since you have basically wiped everything out and started from scratch, probably lies within your machines RAM

There is a nice little free piece of software to use to optimize your machines RAM any time with a mouse click here
http://www.yourwares...m/software.html
just download, install and read the short users guide, I hope this helps.
