Hello, My internet main page is some javascript redirector security warning and my main screen on the computer has a spyware warning selling RazeSpyware.
Any help getting rid of these would be much appreciated. I have run e-wido, spybot and CWShredder. Here is my HJT log. Show hidden files was turned on. Thanks.

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall some programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

CleanUp
Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

CWShredder

Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder

2. Remove Infections

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

Run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

3. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following files -

C:\WINDOWS\system32\svcnt32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvn.dll

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch. It will open the folder Prefetch. Delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Ewido scan report.

I did everything you asked but couldn't find the C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvn.dii file. The internet home page is back to yahoo but the razespyware warning is still on the main screen. Also had a runtime error when the computer rebooted into normal mode. Here's my HJT log and Ewido log. Thanks.

Hi,

Can you tell me what runtime error it showed when you booted into Normal Mode ???? Did it happen again, in case you have rebooted the PC ???

Yes, it has happened on each reboot.

Runtime error 5 at 004047C5

Hi tay,

Runtime error is quite a generic error !! That means that we know that there is a problem but no idea what the exact problem is.

Can you check as to whether all the programs you installed are working properly ??? In case some of the program is not running / gives some error, let me know about it.

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as background.reg
Save as type:All files (The first line in the file should be REGEDIT4)

Nope, it's still there. I did a little research on razespyware and it appears to be a legitimate product. I'm trying to find an email address to contact them but no luck so far. I can click on the banner to download the product. I am considering doing this but am afraid of what may happen. What do you think? Thanks.

Hi tay,

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and post a new HijackThis Log with the contents of the smitfiles.txt log by using Add Reply.
