Go to Specifications and then it will be under CPU Type.

Thats the most detailed I could find, you could try something less then a Pentium 4, but I personally couldn't guaranteed that it would work. What exact processor are you trying on here. I'm 99% sure Pentium 4's work on here, pretty sure I have heard people run them on the 680i boards. Also I can guarantee that the Pentium D's will work on here.
Is that you rig in your signature? Or you dream rig? Not sure if you realize this or ment there were multiple hard drives in your rig, but there is no such thing at this current time as one 1.5TB drive.

this means taht it would have to be a socket 775 processorCPU Socket Type LGA 775
according to THis List some P4's and cellerons were 775 (some 478 and 423)...so in theory (given their vague descriptioin) as long as it's a socket 775 processor (which precludes anything sub P4) it should work on this motherboard

almost (they're working on a 5 TB as well i think)but there is no such thing at this current time as one 1.5TB drive.

Dsnette I was referring to released hardware There is always something greater around the corner, personally my favorite part about technology, the exact same thing so many others hate about it
I want SSD to become affordable, and to get of PATA I think thats a huge bottleck for the technology, but I`m sure the engineers creating it know more about it then me I`m just curious to the reason behind PATA on SSD. Random question, anyone know why they do SSD on a dying technology?
LOL, sorry I hijacked this.
Dsnette what you posted above isn`t entirely correct, some Pentium D`s will not work on old Pentium 4 boards. Why is this? Because Intel decided to change the voltages taken in by the processors, so even though the socket is the same, it required different voltages thus would not work on the older boards. Same thing happened between the transition to Core2duo from the older Pentium 4`s and D`s. Even if its the same socket, doesn`t always mean it works. Motherboard manufacturers where complaining about this last fall. Because with the introduction of Quad, it was the same issue, a different assortment of transistors where required for the quad to function on the motherboards that were just created for the dual core2duo`s. Generally speaking, if it`s the same socket it`ll support everything below the best it can support as these changes in transistors and voltage regulators have already been made. However I say generally because I`m sure there is some kind of an exception out there.

<---that deskstar is actually available (i think)Dsnette I was referring to released hardware
and for the other deal...yes...all that is correct...hehe...and since this board claims to support all the way up to the new quad cores....then my statement was correct right? anything that's a 775 will work right?

Yup I think I just like to type sometimes. Though it'd be pointless to put a P4 on such a high end board.

Its a speed, size and compatibilty issue on them using IDE its easier to miniturize its got more compatibility and its not actually a bottleneck SSD isnt as fast as you think it is and doesnt have to be as fast because of its responsiveness. Lots of reasons why its not actually an inferior technology parralel technology can be just as fast its just the way IDE is implemented that makes it slower they could have updated it to be much faster but it would no longer have been IDE standard and wouldnt have been compatible any more.

I'm so confused, what are you talking about that deskstar is actually available?

I knew it became a availibe to consumers a while ago as I had seen it on the canadian market, surpirsed to see bestbuy has any of these babies. For now I think I'm going to stick with 500GB drives, we are only talking about seconds of difference between "older" drives and 500GB drives have much better GB/$.
