1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to any number around 5-12. This means it will make X requests at once, depending on the number you put in. NOTE: A recommended number is either 8 or 12. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New > Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now. IMPORTANT: Some small sites may block your connection because it DOES take up more bandwidth than usual. Take note. Wow! Thanks! It worked for me, it's much faster now! Hey, I just joined today and checked out "Make Firefox Faster" and saw someone from my home town. Greetings from North Eastham, Cape Cod, Mass. I live up by Nauset Light Beach it is really cold today and getting colder. I hope this tip will speed up my FireFox, I love the add ons so much, now there are way too many and it is slow. I have been using "Flock' which is built on a FireFox platform and works great. Take Care Cape Codder! |

Hi;
I did the same thing and resolved it this way: To reset a preference to its default value or to remove an added preference, context-click (right-click) on the preference and select Reset. If you added the entry via about:config, the preference will no longer be listed after restarting the program. This is a quote from MozillaZine. It works even if Reset is greyed- it did for me. Hope this helps. |
