OK I can see nothing there that jumps out and hits me - so lets go another route

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed following this process directly to your desktop**

• If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
  
  • Tools->Options->Main tab
  • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
• During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:
  
  
  
  
  
  
• It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
• Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
• Close any open browsers.
• Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".

Thanks a lot, Essexboy. You are very helpful. I am having trouble downloading anything. Firefox wants to crash on me and quit working. I tried to do a disk cleanup and it wouldn't do it. Let me get on the computer and see what happens. (I am on my own right now).

He has yahoo messenger load at startup. I HATE THAT!!! I checked the box to not start automatically and it still does it. GGRRR ....

It starts with Avast, Superantispyware, yahoo, among other things that take forever to get it going. I had this right last month and he screwed it up bigtime.

I will get on it now and see if I can download what you suggested.

Ok lets have a good look at your start up programmes. And could you give me a new rundown on the exact problems you are experiencing

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will receive a prompt:
  
  • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
• If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.

I forgot to tell you what it is doing ... it seems to have a mind of its own. Firefox will just shut down for no reason. Other programs will shut down as well. On startup everything wants to lock up. The PC tower was noisy ... but not right now. And now my window for firefox is absolutely huge!!!!!

Earlier I couldn't download HJT. As you can see ... now I can. So it is obstinent. (SP?)

Select Free up disk space

Select Unneccesary files and backups then clean

Select Maintain Windows

Run Drive Defrag

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Then run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

Run the internet Optimiser to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

It looks like windows is struggling to configure Sonic MyDVD Plus.

I remember during startup this came up a lot. This program came up with different things like : errors ... encountered a problem and will be shut down ... and other things I can't remember exactly.

The computer is just holding here telling me to wait while it configures this.

I guess I am just going to cancel the action. It is not doing a thing. As you can see this began 40 minutes ago. I will finish the job you gave me and we can look at this later if it is a problem.
