Recyle bin

I have been getting a message that my recycle bin is corrupt and every time I have tried to delete it, it says that the file names in the recycle bin folder are too long for the destination folder. The end result is me skipping the deletion of these items or skipping them. Therefore the recycle bin is still corrupt. Right now, it is currently in the C:\ drive under the folder name $RECYCLE.BIN. I've already tried the temporary file cleaner from Old Timer the Malware program.

When I do that, all it says is that the system cannot find the file specified

Did you open command prompt as administrator as described in the above article?

when i try to run it as an administrator, it runs up under my name.

The command still should work.
Make sure, you copy and paste it, so no letters, spaces are missing.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Vista users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
  • Copy the content of the following box into the main textfield:
    :filefind
$RECYCLE.BIN
  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

it wasnt missing to begin with. its probelm was that it was corrupted.
