So far i didnt get the "Virtumundo.C is trying to install" warning, however it stopped doing it before and then it started again a few weeks ago. Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while.

Since my last post, i have installed Zone alarm security , thinking it would find it better than norton. but no, it did not. I see the 3 files in question are still there. Plus 2 more now. Im not sure where they came from. It may be from spysweeper and zone alarm, but Im just guessing. I only use firefox, so im not sure this crap is getting installed, besides other family memebers. Let's try a couple things before we go registry hunting.

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

• Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
• In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
• Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
• Expand the "Tools" menu.
• Click "Resident".
• Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
• In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Then double-click the red SG in your system try to Open Spywareguard

• Click Option on the left
• Uncheck the following
  • Enable Real-Time Scanning
  • Enable Download Protection
  • Enable Browser HiJack Protection
• Click Save Settings
• We will re-enable it when we're done.

Then open Microsoft AntiSpyware.

• Click on Tools, Settings.
• In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
• Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
• Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
• After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
• Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
• We will re-enable it once we're done.

Then we need to disable SpySweeper Shields

• Click Shields on the left.
• Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
• Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
• Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items.
• Click Browser Add-Ons and uncheck all items.
• Exit Spysweeper.

That should do it...

Now open Hijackthis, scan, and place a checkmark by the following entries:
