I had time when my firewall stopped working and didnt know it. My system takes forever to load. IE freezes and says YES on title bar. I am now running ZoneAlarm firewall and Anti-virus.
I am waiting so long for after a reboot, when it used to take only one minute. My IE and Firefox changes from previous old settings, ''the looks of my page'' and then back to new with my fav always being gone the next time I restart.
Please help to see if this caused by a virus or something.

Hello,

I was looking over your log, I need you to find a file for me and submit it for inspection. Not sure exactly where it is located so you may want to do a search for it.

Please find interceptor.dll and submit it HERE

once we have the file and inspect it I will return with the next steps.

Hi Classy2,
lets see what we can do for ya,

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, along wiht the Silent runners log you made, in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Can't access the FileSystemObject!
"Silent Runner cannot access file services critical to proper operation."
If you are running Windows XP, make sure that the
"Cryptographic Services" service is started.
You cal also try reinstalling the latest version of the MS Windows
Script Host.
Press ''OK'' to direct your browser to the download site or "cancel"
to quit.
Sent me to;http://msdn.microsof...list/webdev.asp
I did close ALL browser but it continued opening to the ubove link.

A log from this program must be somewhere, I did a serch under this program name but could
not find the prom listed nor its log.
Please help my locate Script Runner Log.

View Manager is still located in ''Task Manager. Shall I removed it form there?

ok, when your chekcing things in Hijack this you need to be in normal mode, start hijack this and see if these files are in the listing or not.

O2 - BHO: Internet Explorer Web Content Catcher - {FFF4E223-7019-4ce7-BE03-D7D3C8CCE884} - C:\Program Files\DNS\Catcher.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

If they are then put a check next to them and click on fix.

lets see if we can get silent runners to work, the log should have been left on your desktop after it was done.

Click this link, continue by clicking on the Continue button. let the system install this program then try and run Silent runners again.

if it still doesn't work then we need to try another program.

Should I be looking for the service that Silent runner asks to be running..--Cryptograpghic Services?
Im online with Firefox now because IE opened up covering my screen in 50 blank pages saying it couldnt find server.

on that link I gave you it will download all the necessary files that your system needs to run Silent runners.

there is something there blocking your access though. Post a fresh Hijack this log so I can make sure something new hasn't appeared.

we have to find this file:

interceptor.dll

I think this is causing the problems you are experiencing.

lets see if we can find it :tazz:

Click on start>Search after the window opens up clik on all files and folders. In the next window that opens up scroll down in the left side adn click on More Advanced Options then put a check mark in Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files and Folders, and Search Subfolders

in the top box that say all or part of a file name put interceptor.dll

After it has completed it search, do the following.
  • if the file is found please right click on it choose send to then choose compressed folder. Remember where that file is located so that you can submit the zipped file to me at Submissions
  • If the file is not found let me know and I will advise on the next step to do.
