We have what seems to be a PSGuard virus, and we cannot get rid of it! Our homepage is about:blank and cannot be changed. Our display background flashes "WARNING your computer may be infected with adware or spyware!" and we do not want to click the link it shows for fear of another virus. We did a Norton scan and one virus was found-that being the bloodhound.w32.ep virus which the program was not able to quarantine or delete..or repair. Also, when logging ON to the computer, a pop up box informs us that the PSGuard.exe program is trying to terminate the runtime program in an unusual way and to contact the program's support team. This box has the heading "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library." The following message keeps popping up with the heading DESKTOP: "Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. The file is needed for your Active Desktop. To turn off Active Desktop click OK." We have no idea what the Active Desktop is. Our computer has also begun to shut itself down. When it comes back on, a webpage pops up saying: "Crash caused by NVIDIA Graphics Drive. No specific solution found." Also, when the computer is first turned on, a box pops up exclaiming LOAD ZIP ERROR. ProgramWe have read a similar post on Geeks to Go, and have already used hijackthis. Here are the files it shows.
