Hurricane Katrina is poised to bring unprecedented destruction to the northern gulf coast. Any NO residents really shouldn't be reading this as you should be GONE by now.

It's terrible. I have relatives that live just outside New Orleans. We haven't been able to cantact them since this morning. I hope everything's still OK. :tazz:

Has anyone heard about whether the Air Force base has been evacuated??? I can't get in touch with my best friend, who is stationed there. :tazz:

all of my family is from the surrounding area of marsh/swamp/bayou lands and the like....most people have left the area and are generally safe. gonna call my mom later and make sure...but in theory everyone is fine.....just wonder how much of the state will wash away this time

The storm hit and wednesday becomes a day of prayer then, but those prayers of condolence and sympathy should also be mixed with those in thanks for the storm's having downgraded to level three.
