One of my computers is getting a little slow and quirky. I want to avoid reloading XP as long as possible. Some time ago I used the trial version of PC Tools 2006 and it seemed to work fairly well. What other programs are out there that do a good job of registry cleanup and general PC house keeping?

I've used Easy Cleaner by Toni Arts for a long time. It has a registry cleaner, deletes unnecessary/temp/duplicate files (you have to be careful with the unnecessary files part, because it will pick and delete backup files that you might not want removed, but it's simple enough to enter the paths you don't want it touching), and clears cookies and history. It's freeware. I don't think I've ever had an issue related to anything it's ever wanted to delete from the registry.

Of course, there's Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware for spyware (both freeware).

After these, run Defrag.

Also, here's the link to the GTG list of freeware software:

I use and recommend ...ccleaner...and regseeker...

http://www.filehippo...nload_ccleaner/

in ccleaner...the standard settings for cleaning up the junk are fine..

http://www.snapfiles.../regseeker.html

run the registry cleaner...when it done ...select all...then on your keyboard press delete..
it backs up everything so don't be afraid...can also click on the tweaks and add things like copy to folder and the like to your right click context menu... :whistling:
