AOL & IE6 Keep flashing! Help

I cannot seem to do anything with my pc for the last few days. Suddenly, my AOL and my IE6 are flashing as if you are turning the monitor on and off. I cannot do anything. I have run everything I know of to stop this and nothing is working. It's not "flashing" while I am in the Firefox browser though. Can someone help me with this troubling new development? I don't know what is going on. But you cannot do anything for the flashing. I can't type an email or surf the net! It does it so much that my AOL has to "reconnect" everytime as I am on dial up! This is extremely aggravating. Please, someone, help me! I've run Registry fix, I've gone to the Trend website and run a free scan, I've run defragment, ad sweeper, etc. Nothing is helping!!!
