I would like some help regarding IP address.

I installed XP (OEM) on my new hard drive and now I can't locate my IP address
when trying to connect to the internet. WHen I check for my IP address from the DOS
prompt it's not there.

Appreciate any help.

Yes I'm using a router.
I was using another hard drive (40g) then switched to a new SATA drive.
Could not connect XP would not produce an IP.
So I switched back to my old HD and am able to connect. Just don't know why I can't use the internet on the new drive.

try this, turn off the comp, the router, the modem. then turn the modem back on after 30sec, router after the modem is back online, then your comp after your router is online.
