My PC crashed today (Win XP) and upon restart all the desktop icons appear as .ink files. Clicking on them just comes up with a message "Windows cannot open this file".
I'm then invited to choose from a program list or go to the web to find the program automatically. Strangely the Microsoft page says it does not recognise "MS Office 2003.ink".
All my installed programs are still on the "C" drive and when I go to the .exe file in any of them I get the same error message.
Has anyone got any idea what went wrong and how to fix it?? (Hopefully not a complete reinstall of everything)
I still have access to MS Outlook, Mozilla Firefox and some other MS stuff but no access to any other programs.

Thanks Fuzzyloo
