<_< Okay,my mother-in-laws desktop,which ran on ME,went belly up.Problem is though whatever nailed it took out DOS as well.Now we cant get it to even recognise her boot up or start up disk.I've done the limits of my capabilities and now I turn to anyone that has any ideas.PLEASE

What happens when you try and boot from a floppy? Are you able to access the BIOS?
