Help,
I've been struggling with my computer since Nov.
I've called Microsoft help and it seemed to help for a short bit but not enough. Now, having found this place, I hope I can get help.

I first noticed a computer slow down, and then that the computer seemed to be doing stuff when I wasn't.
I decided to install XP2 to hopefully increase my security, but I haven't been able to get it to install either with disc or with a download. In fact, I can't get many things to download. Next I ran spybot, which worked once, then it wouldn't work.
Microsoft told me to try Panda and Trend micro. After their help to finally get it to download, it worked and seemed to clean up problems.
They helped me get rid of the rundll that I kept catching on my Task Manager. But I can't get Trend micro or Panda to run now either.

Now, Norton keeps finding Trojan Vundo but in the last two weeks, it has started to report that "clean failed Quarantined failed".
So today after reading through a couple of postings here, I downloaded the fixvundo from symantec, but that said I had no Trojan!!!!
The two files that Norton keeps finding them in this week are Gersm.Dat and msreg.exe and it says it left them alone.
Any advise would be welcome.
