Format wipes any existing data and programmes from the drive

there are some missing microsoft programs on my computer and all of the music files have gone corrupt. i wanted to uninstall and reinstall windows and see if this might fix my problem, but in the add/remove programs there is nothing labeled windows 98 or anything like that.

If you uninstall 98 then it takes the existing data and programmes with it
Click start then programmes, then accessories, system tools, system information, click system file check, run that and replace any files it needs from the 98 CD
