Boot Problem

I have a computer problem that i have never seen before. This harddrive fails and asks if i should boot in safe mode
w/ networking
etc..
then
Last known good configuration
Normal startup

I tried replacing HD and same thing. Then i tried to put HD as slave w/master(working HD and Working computer) and computer wont boot. All HD i seem to put in there all dont work. I just got a call from another costumer and there computer is having the same issue. Using WIN XP
