I've just bought a cat5 cable to connect my pc and my laptop. Both my ethernet cards are working fine but on both it says network cable unplugged eventhough the cable is plugged on both the pc and the laptop. Do you think it's a cable problem??? If not could anyone help me resolve this problem. :whistling:

If i understood you correctly, u are trying to connect the laptop and the PC directly. IF that is the case, an ordinary RJ45 cat wire wont work. You'll need RJ45 crossover cable (which looks exactly the same but is diff internally). The cable you have is a patch cable that can only be used if ur connecting thru routers or hubs.
