Remove the XP CD

Insert the 98 CD and reboot

If it says about another version of windows being there, (it shouldn't), you may need to wipe the drive

You can contact Microsoft about replacing the product key for the XP CD

You probably won't need to because XP was not installed. If you boot the PC with the 98 CD in it should install

Post back if 98 will not install, or it says windows is already installed

running95, there was some software I used once that tells you your Product Key upon installation. I no longer have the software, but if I do find it I will happily post the link.

Use the computer you are on now to get this, either version, boot the other PC with that in the drive

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Are you sure the product key is not on the tower

Boot the PC and keep tapping the delete key, check the boot order is CD ROM then hard drive, press F10 if you change anything, type Y to confirm then press enter

Check this is how you did it

Q: How do I make a bootable CD with the ISO file?

A: Download the ISO file to your desktop and double-click it.

If nothing happens when you double-click the ISO file, then you must obtain CD burning software, like one of these products:

CDBurnerXP (Gratis)
VSO Blindwrite (Shareware)
Nero Burning ROM (Shareware)
Roxio Easy Writer (Commercial)
If you burn DBAN to CD-R and see just one file when you open the CD-R afterwards, then you have burned DBAN incorrectly.

Use the cdrecord command if you have a Linux computer.

DBAN may not boot if you modify the ISO file or filesystem layout in any way, like by injecting files.
