Please, Please... any help would be really appreciated. I am having problems with my IE. My home page continues to get stuck on a warning massage regarding spyware. I have tried just about everything I can think of, i.e. Adaware, spybot, spywareblaster, and shredder. I am getting so frustrated. Thanks for any help.

Ok Koretek, here is the deal. Monkey Man comes from my old apartment where I lived with a bunch of crazy roomates. We called it the Monkey House. No, I never lived in N.Y. I live in L.A. As for the service packs I reformated my system just a short while ago and handn't got it done yet. As the way it is now windows server won't let me get them.
In any case, thanks for taking a look. This has been frustrating me.
Thanks for the time.

Hi Monkey_Man

You are using HijackThis from a temp folder. Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT. Now copy and paste HijackThis to the new folder you have just created. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of the modifications to use if a restore is necessary.

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocpe.dll/security.htm#subID=BSW;677
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://shdocpe.dll/asst.htm

Please Reboot into safemode

Safe Mode
Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 continuously until you see the Windows Advanced Menu:
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

"View of All Files and Folders"
Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if found.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocpe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntnut32.exe home

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working.

Thanks for being so fast Koretek
I already moved Hijackthis to it's own folder yesterday. I will try the suggestions you made and get back to you.

One more thing, the windows update doesn't display any service pack available. I don't understand that. The only information regarding updates is a security update which is labeled as
Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732)
Download size: 0 KB, 0 minutes
This doesn't seem to be right. As you did point out I don't have SP1 or SP2 installed. Not so good. What do you think?
