Everytime I go to certain websites including geekstogo. There are words on the pages that are different in color and have an underline on them. It would look sort of like this:

"Hi this is geekstogo I am writing an example"

Anyways when you have the mouse cursor over the word like that, it pops open a little box that has information on other web pages with the same topic, or just nonsense. At the top of the little box it says "Intellitext" or something like that. It is said the same way but I dunno if it's spelled like that.

Sometimes windows will say it certain webpages cannot be opened and that it has to abort it and close the operation. Meaning close the internet window. When it does do that and only sometimes mind you, I can see that these intellitext words are underlines on the page. They will either be underlined with a green or blue color.

I've re-installed windows a huge amount of times on my old pc. & I always got intellitext...

Can you help me remove this or fix the problem?

Thx

:D :whistling: :help:  :) :)

Hi:

This seems to be a form of malware which may not be be on your PC. See:

Topic: Scumware, Spyware, Adware & Malware Applications

IntelliTXT works by analyzing the text on the page, identifying keywords and then matching those keywords against relevant advertisers. The areas of text to be analyzed are marked by surrounding those areas with special tags. When IntelliTXT is applied, the HTML in those areas is replaced with a modified version containing the IntelliTXT keyword. The modified version looks the same except for the addition of the highlighted IntelliTXT keywords.

IntelliTXT will NOT serve ads over hyper linked content.

Publisher Permission – IntelliTXT is controlled and managed by the publisher. This is not a desktop application.

Each user-activated click generates revenue for the web publisher. (Vibrant Media FAQ)

I would suggest you visit the Malware Section of this forum and follow the guidelines there thoroughly. The Malware Experts will guide you through any problems you may encounter should you need to post in that section.

I was having this same problem, and found another thread here about intelliTXT. I followed the instructions regarding the HOSTS file, that can be found here: http://www.greyknigh...are.php#prevent and my intelliTXT problem has been resolved. The original thread is here: http://www.geekstogo...0&hl=IntelliTXT

Hope that helps!
