Games claim my direct x version is not correct, but i'm sure it is

When i try starting any of my games (call of duty 2, civiliztion 4, BF2, HL2........) i get a message saying that

my direct x version is not correct, or that it cannot be found, or my graphic seting should be checked. but

i'm ertain that i have Direct x 9.0c.

help me please!!! :whistling:

Click start > click run > type dxdiag and press enter.

What version of DirectX does it say?

Well, I'm definately no computer whiz, and you may have already tried this...
I had/have this problem too... And tried many things.

Have you downloaded the newest version from Microsoft?Look here.

This didn't fix my problem, turns out I need a new graphics card.

Do you?

On Direct X Diag it says excactly this:

DirectX version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

which should run the games

Another clueless PC user...

i have the latest direct x version

and i'm sure my graphics card is good enough

it's a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro which has been upgraded with artic cooling fan

(because teh fan on it broke and we had it replaced with the artic coling one
but thats a different story)

but thanks for trying
