Ok, so here is the problem. I have a win xp pro machine that is running 2 80 gig hard drives, 2 gigs or memory, standard video and sound cards, I have 2 ide drives one set as master (plextor 716al) one as slave (samsung cd-rw), and I'm running norton antivirus, nero 6.6, dvd43, and some other basic stuff. The problem that I am having is with the plextor 716al drive. This is my second drive and now it seems to have issues. I've checked out my device manager and I only have 2 primary IDE controllers. Shouldn't I have secondary IDE controllers? If so how would I go about reinstalling them since win xp hasn't automatically installed them. Would not having secondary IDEs cause my dvd rom to act strange even though its my master drive.
