Hard Drive Help

I open up my hard drive, put in a disc, and then it simply can't read it. The cd icon comes up next to my mouse cursor for a few seconds and then goes away. That's about all it accomplishes. Any ideas? Thanks.

you opened your hard drive? i think you mean CD-rom
