I got onto safe mode last night, but today I can't seem to. It goes to a screen that has writing all the way down it, and from there it just freezes. I don't know what's happening.

It has words that I don't know what they mean. It's something like:

Partition(0) and something else

and it says WINDOWS/FONTS somewhere on it. I've never loaded into safe mode before, so I don't know what it's doing. :whistling:

Why is it doing this? I've tried it twice, and waited quite a few minutes for it to change screens, but it didn't.

Click Start, then Run, type msconfig, and click "Ok". Under the "BOOT.INI" tab, tick the box next to "/SAFEBOOT".
Select one of the following options:
  • MINIMAL for Safe Mode
  • NETWORK for Safe Mode with Networking (if you connect to the internet using an onboard network device, this will allow you to access the internet while in Safe Mode)
Click "Apply", then "Ok", and reboot.

Important: To start Windows XP normally, clear this check box next to /SAFEBOOT.
