There seems to be a problem with winlogon.exe on my computer. I'm not fully sure what the problem is. When I try to run Ad-Aware SE a dialogue box pops up saying that something is wrong with winlogon.exe and no matter what command I click, my computer automatically restarts itself. I'm also having trouble rebooting into safe mode. Once I choose the option of rebooting in safe mode at startup, I never get to the desktop screen. I just get a black screen that says "safe mode" in all four corners. I don't know if the two problems are connected. I really would appreciate some help with this. Thanks in advance!

Hi ButtahflyyKisses...

Because winlogon errors of this type are often times associated with malware, the first step here should be to verify whether or not this is the case with your machine,

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Start Here.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
