Problem with computer freezing up.

Hi, i would be grateful if anyone could help me wih my problem; about a year ago i had my hardrive wiped due to a virus on my computer. For a while it was fine, until i realised they had not reinstalled service pack 2. So, to install this(and to solve another internet service provider related problem) i had a man round. He did all the jobs that needed doing, however since he came i have been having a game related freezing problem. Everytime i play ceratin games, (i have one which is fine) my computer locks up completely after about half an hour, and i can do nothing but restart. Can anyone help me out?
