I am temporarily forced tousing dial-up while my ISP resolves some broadband issues. I managedtoconnect OKbut now the "dial-up connection Window" keeps popping up uninvited and at times will dial-up myISP ,when I'm not looking. How can I discourage this behaviour?

You sure its your connection it's dialing??

Usually dialup conns dont just pop up alone, unless you're infected by a dialer, which can be a really big number on ur phone provider next month...

open Internet Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options and uder the connection tab make sure "Never dial a connection" is selected.
