We had this same problem. Uninstalling HP share-to-web worked. Here's the knowledgebase article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165. Good luck!

GREAT This seems to have resolved it for me too. I have uninstalled the HP share-to-web and I am now able to open the subfolders in the Open File window. Lets see how it goes.
