Dell 19" CRT monitor

My sister's CRT monitor in another location has just gone dark and she can't get it on again. Using remote access software (RealVNC), I was able to see her desktop. From there, I checked all the screen saver and power options settings but still no display on her end. At this point, I don't know if it's a monitor or video card problem. Unfortunately, since this problem surfaced, the IP has changed on her DSL connection and, without a screen to see the system tray, she can't relay the new server address for me to re-login with RealVNC.

Fortunately, I'm going to visit her next week. Is there any way I can connect my IBM notebook to the Dell 8100 tower, with a VGA cable, so that I can see the Dell's "desktop" on my IBM notebook screen? That way I can continue troubleshooting, perhaps with a video card driver upgrade or roll back.

Thanks!
