DVD error

Hi,
I've recently installed Ubuntu Linux and have encountered my first problem. When I try to play a DVD, it brings up Totem Movie Player but then gives an error:

Error invoking "dvdnav_get_next_block": Error reading from DVD.

Please could you advise me how best to correct this.
