My daughter's computer (Dell widnows XP) is constantly being invaded by pop-ups. Some of them Winfixer in all varieties. I have used remove VuduFix and Virtumundobegone, but these pests are still poping up along with AdultfriendFinder or a similar name. I have a HiJackThis file.
Ii would appreciate if someone can look at it and advise what is valid and what has to be removed.

The fix for the WareOut infection has been updated a tad,lets have ourselves a do over and see if we can get this all in one punch!


Just delete the old version of FixWareOut that you have and install a new one please.


Please make sure Ewido is updated with the latest definitions.


Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
• You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
• When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

  Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button

Once in safe mode Open Ewido Security Suite and do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
• Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Close ewido security suite.


Click Start, and then click Search.
Click All files and folders.
In the "All or part of the file name" box, type:

rasphone.pbk

Verify that "Look in" is set to "Local Hard Drives" or to (C:).
Click "More advanced options."
Check "Search system folders."
Check "Search subfolders."
Click Search.
Click Find Now or Search Now.

If you find rasphone.pbk file, right-click the file, and then click "Open With."
Deselect the "Always use this program to open this program" check box.
Scroll through the list of programs and double-click Notepad.
When the file opens, delete the entries below:

IpDnsAddress = 85.255.116.149
IpDns2Address = 85.255.112.14
IpNameAssign = 2


Now open the Control Panel-> In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically

Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable one some systems.


Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)


Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
Panda Active Scan

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work

Save the Report it generates

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from Ewido-> FixWareOut-> VundoFix and Panda
