IE Internet History

I use windows XP w\ Service PackII. I believe the version of IE I use is 6.0. I also use an older version of Norton System Works (2003) to keep my internet cache empty. About 8 weeks ago about 44k of the history would not empty. I tried everything w\o success. After several weeks I noticed that it doubled to 88k and a few weeks later to 104k and now 176k. I have visited the Windows help site and tried all the solutions they list. Can anybody offer any ideas what could be the problem here and a possible solution.

First I would like to suggest to u to switch browsers to Avant Browser. I find it much nicer, faster, and u can clean anything u want...

Second if you really do want to keep IE try to get a free program to delete the history. I havent used these programs but this is what i found so far...

Cant recommend these since i havent used them.
