Hi, I have had an issue with my laptop for a while and have no idea what is going on. There are too many programs running on startup, about 55 and it takes forever to loadup. On top of that, the dound is really really bad. I have to shut down all non essential processes to play musi and even then the quality is very bad, extremely distorted. I have run virus checks and Ad-Adware SE Personal but apparently i have nothing. So what is going on? these are my results from Hijackthis. I would be grateful for any assistance.

I am a relative beginner with all this so excuse me if some of this sounds a bit silly.

I have EZ anti virus software installed. I also have the ewido anti-malware. Ad-aware SE, Spybot Search and Windows Defender. I used to have Norton Anti Virus, but that ran out and so switch to this after using AVG for the trail period.

Please go here:

Malware Removal Guide

You will need a PC which can connect to the internet

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, ask for advice in the Malware Forum

Hi ... in answer to your post.

For start up apps. go to run>type msconfig>start up ... or a good little freeware tool is Start Up Inspector for Windows - when online it will click consult and it'll tell you what is what and whether you need or not ..... more info on start up apps. available at sysinfo.org.

For services go to run>type services.msc and double click service to disable/stop etc. Good info about these and profile templates available at Tweakhound.com.
