I am looking to purchase satellite internet, as it is the only option for internet service out here in Iraq right now. It comes with a satellite modem, but what comes after that is the question.

I am looking to hook up 10-15 users to this connection, and am also wanting to put bandwidth limiting for certain users. I really do not know that much about routers and switches, but somebody told me that with a switch, I can prioritize bandwidth, whereas with a router I cannot. What would be the best choice?

for the security, you should a router to protect your system. However, the router may not give you enought ports to support over 10 computers, so you may also need a switch. for more information, visit http://www.howtonetworking.com.
