No, starting in safe mode didn't work either. I've just noticed something too. Sometimes, about once every two or three days, my computer just freezes. The cursor won't move and the keyboard doesn't do anything either. It usually happens when I'm browsing the internet. I have to hold down the power-button and wait till it turns off and then turn it back on again. When i switch it back on, I always get a message from Windows Defender telling me that AOL's done something (see screenshot attatched), and my internet doesn't work correctly. I have to unplug the wireless adaptor and plug it back in again to get it work again.

Is this something to do with AOL... or just something else?

Oh, and thanks for the help I've recieved here... It's been great and not too complicated, but not patronising either.

i hate aol so very much.... what would be the impact for you (data loss and time lossed by reinstalling extra software) for you to do a full system recovery with the recovery disks?

I hate AOL too! It's AMERICA online... so what're they doing in the UK? We don't want them here.

And that's exactly what technical support said when I contacted them... but it's their answer for everything. I've contacted then twice (on seperate issues) and both times they simple told me to reinstall Windows.

It'd take a while too. I've got it all set up the way I like it.

I tried to contact AOL by their freephone number and they told me to phone this 0870 number (i've a feeling that's non-geographic... I'm not too sure), but I don't know how much those calls cost.
