Dial-up Connections

Is there anyway to set-up a dial-up connection without going through an ISP such as AOL? I don't have the money right now to buy the things I need to set-up a wireless connection, so I was going to use dial-up for the time being just for stupid things like AIM. I was going to use an ISP but was kind of wary about using my debit card because I didn't want to somehow be charged something I shouldn't and have that mess-up my checking account.

nope.. you can't have internet access without an internet service provider...there used to be a few free ones..but to my knowledge there arent any anymore... netzero is about 10 bucks a month...i use bellsouth wich is about 24 bucks a month
