Hi!
Yes i am still needing help! I already have the following spyware detection programs: adaware, spybot, and msn's spyware detector. I am still having trouble with lots of pop ups and strange toolbars that i can't get rid off. Not to mention that my computer has slowed down signifigantly. I've also been having this message pop up everytime i log in that says "mm_tray entry point not found". Do i need to post another hijack log? Thank you!

First, I need you to move HiJackThis to a permanent folder. This ensures backups are saved and accessible. Follow the instructions below if you are unsure how to do this:
1.) Go into Windows Explorer (located in Start > Programs > Accessories).
2.) Click the (C:) drive to highlight it.
3.) Go up to "File > New" (located at the top left corner of your screen) then click "Folder".
4.) Please name this folder "HJT".
5.) Minimize Windows Explorer and locate HiJackThis.exe on the desktop.
6.) Right click on HiJackThis.exe and go to "cut".
7.) Maximize Windows Explorer and find the folder you just made in the C: drive (HJT). Go into the folder, right click on an open space and click "paste".

Then please post your new HiJackThis log.

Ok, I'm done! :tazz:

Please print these instructions out before continuing!

First, I need you to disable the Microsoft Antispyware program as it could interfere with cleaning your system. To disable the program, follow the instructions below:
1.) Right click on the Microsoft Antispyware tray icon (a little red and yellow circle looking thing)
2.) Click on Security Agents Status (Enabled)
3.) Click on Disable Real-time Protection.

I see a couple of random files on your system. Please run at least one of these online virus scans:
TrendMicro's HouseCall - check "Auto Clean"
ActiveScan

After you have run the virus scan, disconnect from the Internet. Make sure all programs and Windows are closed. Run HiJackThis. Please place a checkmark next to the entries listed below, if they are found. After they all have a checkmark next to them, click "FIX CHECKED" (please make sure the only things checked are the entries I have below!)

MANDATORY fixes:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.optonline.net

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AAAF6F67-974D-71BD-B6DF-341C7E085B8D} - C:\PROGRA~1\ADMINA~1\Name Tons.exe (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ajop] C:\WINDOWS\ajop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ktiv] C:\WINDOWS\ktiv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Obj barb link regs] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\4 coal obj barb\bone for.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [POKE CURB BIAS AMOK] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\theroampokecurb\Bird Drive.exe

OPTIONAL fixes - checkmark only if you want to free up some system resources
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\WINDOWS\System32\igfxtray.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Optimum Online] C:\Program Files\Optimum Online\Netsurf.exe -tray
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DXM6Patch_981116] C:\WINDOWS\p_981116.exe /Q:A
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MoneyAgent] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Money Express.exe"

EXPLANATION of optional fixes
igfxtray.exe - Quick access to the control panel via a System Tray icon for graphics based upon the Intel chipsets (ie, i810). These chipsets are often included on motherboards. Available via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
Netsurf.exe -tray - Optimum Online ISP software. Not required, just window dressing & advertising from Optimum.
p_981116.exe /Q:A - Leftover from a DirectX 6.0 upgrade. It was supposed to run once and go away but on some systems it sticks around.
jusched.exe - Checks with Sun's Java updates site to see if newer Java versions are available. Visit http://java.sun.com or just run the Java Plug-In Control Panel.
WkDetect.exe - Checks for updates to MS Works, can run manually.
Money Express.exe - Part of MS Money. Available via Start -> Programs.

Close HiJackThis.

Be sure you're able to VIEW HIDDEN FILES

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continuously tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Use Windows Explorer and delete the following files and folders, in bold (if found).

FOLDERS to delete:
C:\Program Files\ADMINA~1(**NOTE** This is not the actual name of the folder. Just look for a folder that begins with "ADMINA" - mosty likely it will be the only one even close. Delete it!)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\4 coal obj barb
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\theroampokecurb

FILES to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\ajop.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ktiv.exe

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive). Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot your computer in normal mode and post a new HiJackThis log. Let us know how your system is working!

ok...so i did everything you said. All files/folders that i was supposed to delete were not found. Those pesky toolbars are gone :tazz: ! The only thing so far is that when i log on it still says "mm_tray.exe entry point not found" is this bad or just annoying? Other than that, things seem great thanks!
Here is my HJT log:

Go to Start > Run > Type "msconfig" (without quotes) > click OK
Under the "General" tab, make sure "Normal Startup" is selected. Then click on the "Startup" tab, scroll down to see if mm_tray.exe is in there. If it's there, but a checkmark next to it.

Conversely, here is another option:

"mm_tray.exe is the tray bar process for MusicMatch Jukebox which organizes and plays music media such as MP3. It gives the user easy access to the MusicMatch Jukebox application and settings. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference."

You can access the settings by going into Jukbox. So, we can definitely get rid of the annoying message if you can live without this!

Run HiJackThis and place a check next to the following item, then click "FIX CHECKED"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MMTray] C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mm_tray.exe

Let me know how that works! Your log looks good! Great job :tazz:

Michelle ;)
